A climbing centre commissioned me to design seating furniture for their renovated bouldering gym. At the very beginning there was the idea of creating site-specific objects from the massive beams of the old wall structure, which was replaced by a new system made of steel. I picked up the beams (1.5 tonnes is the payload of our van) and took them to our woodshop. Hence the material, its dimensions and also the volume where given. In the design process, I was seeking a strong formal language that can be declined through three typologies: bench, single and double armchairs, without to lose sight of comfort and feasibility. The furniture pieces were built at our woodshop, which we run as a collective.
